Big 5 Safari - Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve

Where: Africa's oldest proclaimed game reserve.

Duration: 6 hours (including travel)

Wildlife highlights: Lions, Elephants, Rhinos, Buffalo, Leopard.

Step into one of the most storied conservation areas in Africa. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is home to the largest population of white rhino on Earth, legendary lion coalitions, massive elephant herds, and some of the most breath-taking landscapes in KwaZulu-Natal.

You'll head into the reserve with expert guides from Heritage Tours - who know every trail, waterhole, and wildlife behaviour patterns. Enjoy:

Night Safari - iSimangaliso Wetland Park

Where: Eastern Shores Reserve (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Duration: 3 hours after dark

Experience the wild when most visitors are asleep. As the sun disappears, new wildlife emerges... and the bush comes alive with sound. Guided by trained rangers, you'll be safely immersed in:

  • Rare nocturnal sightings - like leopards, hyenas, chameleons, genets & bush babies.

  • Hippos grazing under the stars.

  • Owls, nightjars, & other secretive birdlife. 

  • A magical African sky with zero light pollution.

Beach & Bush Horse Riding - Bhangazi Horse Safaris

Where: iSimangaliso Wetland Coastal Forest & Beach Shoreline

Experience: Beginner-friendly or advanced all welcome

Ride through coastal forests, along wild beaches, and across open grasslands. With Bhangazi Horse Safaris, horses are calm, well-trained, and locally raised.

You'll explore iconic St Lucia scenery as zebra, antelope, and warthog, watch curiously from a distance. No previous riding experience required - guides ensure comfort and confidence from the moment you mount.

Elephant Interaction - Bayete Zulu Elephants

Hippo & Crocodile Boat Cruise - St Lucia Estuary

Where: St Lucia Estuary (largest estuarine system in Africa) 

Duration: 2 hours sunset cruise

The world's largest wild hippo population calls St Lucia home - more than 800 hippos plus countless Nile crocodiles. On a smooth and relaxing estuary cruise with Heritage Tours, you'll drift through golden sunset views, mangrove forests, bird rookeries, and close-up wildlife.

Travel: 30 minutes through wildlife-rich lands

This is one of the best protected snorkeling bays on South Africa's coast. The water is warm, tropical, and full of colour - expect:

Tropical fish, rays & more.
